The long wait is over for 2012 Johnsonburg Area High School graduate, Michael Shuey who takes the Tokyo Olympic stage Tuesday in the preliminary round of the javelin.
It’s been an incredible journey for the son of Bill and Donna Shuey. It’s a journey that has captivated the area.
“The way the community has supported his Olympic experience has been humbling, amazing, and overwhelming. I guess I’m at a loss for words about the number of people that have given so much support,” said the Olympian’s father on Monday afternoon.
Thirty-two athletes from across the Globe will be competing in the preliminaries in two flights tonight starting at 8:05 p.m. our time. It will be Wednesday morning in Japan. The top 12 throwers move on to the finals on Saturday morning here. Tokyo is 13 hours ahead of our time.
