The unbeaten, 18-0, number-one seed Paper City baseball team hosts Port Allegany today in the District 9 Class AA championship quarter-finals. The eight-seed Gators defeated nine-seed Keystone 11-1 at home on Monday.
With its first Elk County Championship, number-one seeding, and unblemished regular season accomplished, next on the list for the Rams is a district title. The field is stacked, and any of the eight teams have a legit shot at holding up the championship plaque on Memorial Day at Showers Field in DuBois.
Port enters the game 10-7. The Rams beat them on the road 13-5 on April 10. Porter emphasized the Gators can’t be overlooked.
“The last time we played them it was 2-2 into the third inning, so it’s not impossible for them to come in here and win a baseball game,” he said.
Radio Broadcast: Today’s game is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. Barry Morgan and Denny Heindl will have the call on WKBI – 93.9 FM – B94
