Collin Porter threw a no-hit gem, Jefferson Freeburg, filling in for first baseman Domenic Allegretto, had three hits, and the top-seeded, 19-0, Rams made the most of Port Allegany miscues to win 8-0 and advance to Thursday’s District 9 Class AA semi-finals where they will meet four-seed Moniteau – 13-3 winners over five-seed Coudersport.
Seven-seed Curwensville beat two-seed Brookville 4-2 and six-seed Kane knocked off three-seed Redbank Valley 7-0. The winners will also meet on Thursday. The championship game will be played on Memorial Day at Showers Field in DuBois.
Porter struck out eight and pitched to the minimum - 21 batters. A full-count walk to open the third inning to Port picture Sawyer Prince kept him from a perfect game. Prince however was doubled up when Freeburg snagged a line drive.
