Johnsonburg seniors Aiden Zimmerman and Rayce Milliard, freshman Avery Bittler, and Ridgway freshman Michael Copello are preparing for the Class 2A Northwest Region Championships at Sharon High School starting on Friday. The top four District 9 wrestlers in each class from last week's tournament advanced.
A three-time district champ, Zimmerman (29-5) won his second-straight 160-pound title. He was the D9 and regional champ in the same weight class and finished sixth in the state. As a freshman, he won the 152-pound weight class at districts and was the regional runner-up to qualify for the PIAA championships. Zimmerman, who has 89 career wins, could not wrestle as a sophomore due to injury.
