The Lady Elkers were 3-2 winners at Brookville to improve to 6-5. It was the second-straight win for the Ridgway volleyball squad that beat Sheffield 3-2 on Monday. The Lady Elkers won the first set 25-17, lost the next two 25-17 and 25-11, before winning the 5th - 15-11. The Ridgway JVs were 2-1 winners. The Lady Elkers host St. Marys on Thursday.

Elkers fall in OT

The Ridgway boys’ soccer team lost 5-4 in double overtime at Northern Potter. Junior Jack Benninger scored all the Elker (1-4) goals. The team hosts Coudersport on Thursday at Memorial Field in Johnsonburg (7 p.m.). Senior Caden Dennis will be recognized before the teams take to the pitch.

Cross Country - Sophomore Eli Schreiber was the first-place finisher at ECC. The lone competitor for the Elkers won the race in 18:31 – 16 seconds ahead of Adam Straub of the Crusaders. Kane also competed - the Wolves top finisher was Jordan Wolfe, who placed 5th (19:32). Julian Funaki (18:48) and Alex Miller (19:08) finished 3rd and 4th. Ridgay senior Adria Magnusson placed third (23:01). ECC’s Grace Nuebert (22:02) and Sophie Bille (22:45) finished 1st and 2nd. Gino Casilio (9:37) and Aiden Magnusson (10:03) of the Elkers placed first and second in the Junior High race. Ridgway’s Ian Ginther finished 6th (11:33). Place 3rd thu 5th were ECC’s Andrew Mawn (10:05), Jace Meyer (10:08), and Kurt Wolfe (10:09). The Ridgway Invitational will be held on Saturday at the FSG Elementary School course.

7-8th Grade basketball - The Ridgway 7th and 8th grade teams both fell at Punxsutawney. The 7th graders were beaten 37-13 by the hard pressing Lady Chucks. Sophia Fullem scored 6 points to lead the Lady Elkers. The Ridgway 8th graders were defeated 21-16. Jayden Gardner led the Lady Elkers with 8 points. The teams return to action on Friday at Sheffield.
