ELK COUNTY--With just a week to go, it's time to make plans if you want to attend one or all of the Easter Egg Hunts going on next week in Elk County.
Ridgway has the first Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Awakening Alliance Church and will hide some 10,000 eggs on the Ridgway Firemen Carnival Grounds. The fun begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, with the Ridgway-Elk County Chamber of Commerce starting off the annual "Hop and Shop" event in downtown Ridgway. Face painting and other kids' activities will occur at the Welcome Center on Main Street. The Easter Egg Hunt begins at 11 a.m. at the carnival grounds on North Broad Street. There is no cost for admission to any Hop and Shop events, but local merchants are running special sales, and even the Salvation Army is participating with the Fill-a-Bag promotion.
Big Maple Farm Natural Therapies, on Long Level Road in Ridgway, is also having an Easter celebration with an egg hunt and other activities taking place on Saturday, April 1, beginning at 3 p.m. An egg hunt, the Easter Bunny, baby lambs, chicks, and a petting zoo will transform the working century-old farm into a magical land for the day. Admission is free to all events though donations are appreciated.Â
Johnsonburg Community Center on Market Street is holding its Easter Egg Hunt at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, beginning at 1 p.m. Come early and meet the Easter bunny and get a light lunch to help support the Ridgway Animal Haven. The JCC playground will be loaded with candy-filled eggs and prizes, so dress for the weather, bring a basket, and come hunt with the kids. Again, this event costs nothing, but donations are always appreciated.Â
Make a whole weekend of events and enjoy the first taste of spring at all the events next week in Elk County.Â
