St. Marys student opts for camper living to save on college expenses

Butler County Community College student Alexis Krug, of St. Marys, is shown in her family’s 20-foot-long camper in which she stays near BC3’s main campus in Butler Township while attending the college’s physical therapist assistant program.

When Butler Community College (BC3) student, Alexis Krug of St. Marys started her education as a physical therapist assistant, she found the least expensive way to stay near the community college in Butler and return home on weekends to her job was to stay in a camper nearby the college.

Krug started school at BC3 in the fall of 2021 and started living in the camper when she found that rent for an apartment in Butler would cost anywhere from $800 to $1,000, which she said just wasn’t doable.
