JOHNSONBURG--

In a normal year, the Johnsonburg Community Center (JCC) and the Johnsonburg Library "Purse Bingo" event in January brings hundreds to the Fire Hall in Johnsonburg for an afternoon of bingo, food, basket raffles, and fun each year. In light of the current COVID-19 restrictions, the event has been revamped for 2021 as the "Spring Fling with some Bling" on Sunday, April 25, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Instead of the usual BYOB sit-down event, the Fling will have participants purchase tickets for their choice of over 20 baskets, six purses, and 50/50 games. This event serves as one of the major fundraisers for both the Community Center and the Library, and all proceeds will go to those two organizations. There will also be a Soup and Bake sale at the JCC that day, and Bear Creek Wines will set up on the side deck for some liquid refreshment for those aged 21 and over.

Many of the over 20 baskets are specifically themed, ranging from "County Kitchen" to "60's Vintage Patterns" and, of course, every type of food and wine basket imaginable. Some of the baskets even include membership to the Johnsonburg Community Center. All are from local businesses and individuals who wanted to help make sure the "Purse Bingo" tradition was not eliminated due to COVID-19. There are NO advance tickets for the raffles, so make sure to turn out on April 25 at the Johnsonburg Community Center from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to get your chance at some amazing prizes while supporting two great organizations.
