Ridgway Area High School Senior Julie Peterson has been selected to attend the Pennsylvania Governor’s School of the Sciences this summer.
 
Peterson beat out 351 applicants to the program from all across the Commonwealth to earn one of the 60 places in the School this year. The Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Sciences (PGSS) was established to provide a summer enrichment experience in the sciences and mathematics for talented Pennsylvania high school students and encourage them to pursue careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. The program provides instruction in biological sciences, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and computer science, emphasizing collaborative learning and team research.
