FOX TOWNSHIP--The Fox Township Road Crew spent all of Monday installing 158 banners up and down Main Street in Kersey.
After the unveiling of banners on Sunday, it was hoped that they would be able to be installed by the Fourth of July Holiday this coming weekend. Through the hard work of the Road Crew and the intricate planning of Secretary/Treasurer of Fox Township Kathy Dowie, the goal was almost completed on Monday, with well over 70% installed by late afternoon.
The Banners are arranged alphabetically, beginning near the Fox Township Park with Representative Mike Armanini's father, Marshall Armanini, and continue all the way up Main Street to the Hayes Road intersection, then wind back down through town before finishing up along the Dagus Mines Road.
The hard work of the Road Crew will not be limited to this one time, however, as the Fox Township Supervisors and the staff will also take the banners down and store them in the fall to keep them out of the harsh winter weather, hopefully extending their life by several years.
A reminder to all that the Annual Fox Township Fourth Of July Celebration will take place on Saturday, July 3, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Fox Township Community Park, With Live Music, a concession stand, Pony and inflatable rides, craft and food vendors and even a balloon artist the Celebrate Our Freedom event will end with a grand display of fireworks beginning at dusk. Unlike other communities, the Fox Township Supervisors plan and budget for this celebration every year because it is the biggest celebration in Fox Township in July. So come early and stay late to enjoy all the fun.
