Even though the nationwide Healthy Kids Day is being celebrated at the end of the month, the Ridgway YMCA will be hosting their event a little earlier on April 15.
"We were unable to host the event on the actual date," said Ridgway YMCA Executive Director Mary Lynne Bellotti. "But it's such a great event so we wanted to make sure we could still have it, so we picked an early date."
The popular North Broad Street facility has a large number of events planned for this year's Healthy Kids Day celebration, which will kick off at 5 p.m. with a gymnastics demonstration.
"Approximately 30 gymnasts will show off their gymnastics skills that they have worked on all year," Bellotti said. "Chef Combo will be making a healthy snack starting at 6 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m., family Zumba will take place in the aerobics room."
In addition, throughout the evening there will be an obstacle course in the gym hosted by the Boy Scouts, fingerprinting will be done by the Ridgway Borough Police Department, and Life in Motion Chiropractic & Wellness also will be present.
"There will be pool fun, face-painting, a craft, popcorn and balloon creations as well," Bellotti said. "I always look forward to this event…it's just a whole lot of fun. We open our doors to the public and it is a totally free event… a night of family fun."
The event will run Friday, April 15 from 5-7:30 p.m.
"There is just so much always going on at the YMCA," Bellotti said. "We truly have something for everyone."
