Ridgway Area students Alana Antonuccio and Harry Snyder recently performed with the Pennsylvania Music Educator’s Association District 2 Concert Band. This year’s festival was hosted by Mr. Armond Walter at Meadville Area High School.
The festival included 160 of the most talented senior-high band students from northwestern Pennsylvania including Elk, Cameron, McKean, Potter, Warren, Crawford and Erie Counties. The guest conductor for the festival and concerts was Dr. Brad Townsend, director of bands at the University of Pittsburgh. The ensemble performed for the public on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 26, in the Meadville Area High School Auditorium.
While at this festival, students auditioned for selection into the Pennsylvania Music Educator’s Region II Concert Band.
Through her successful audition, Antonuccio was selected to advance and will be participating in the PMEA Region II Band.
The PMEA Region II Band Festival will be held at North East High School, March 7-9, where Antonuccio will have the opportunity to audition again, this time for acceptance into the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association All-State Band.
