The weather cooperated as St. Leo School held its annual May Crowning yesterday. It was the first time in years that it was able to be held outside. The May Queen was MacKenzie Kennedy. She crowned The Blessed Mother Mary. Her court consisted of two students, a boy and girl, from each grade The month of May was dedicated to the Virgin Mary in the 18th century by Father Latvia of the Roman College of the Society of Jesus. According to catholicstraightanswers.com, the thought behind dedicating a mother to the Blessed Mother was to “to promote devotion to Mary among the students as a way to counteract infidelity and immorality.”
