Roger Francis “Pickle” Mann

Roger Francis “Pickle” Mann, 73, of Second Avenue, Johnsonburg, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at home after a short illness.He was born Feb. 2, 1940 in Ridgway, son of Marlin Francis Mann, deceased, and Vada (Kolonski) Mann, who survives.On Feb. 22, 1960, he married Catherine Noreen (Glover), who survives.He worked with many local companies, including Keystone Carbon, Johnsonburg Builders Supply, Johnsonburg Paper Mill, Paper City Transfer, Kwik Fill, and at one time was co-owner of The Cabaret, currently known as the Kopper Kettle.He was a member of the East End Hose Company, Central Hose Hall, Rolfe Sportsmen’s Club, Piedmont Club and the Yellow Jacket Drum Corps. He played the keyboard and harmonica in local bands, Talent Unlimited and Crazy Jacks. He was also an avid reader and a “people person” who will be missed by many, especially his dog Mel.He lived all his life in Johnsonburg. In addition to his wife, Catherine Noreen (Glover) Mann of Johnsonburg, and his mother, Vada (Kolonski) Mann of St. Mary, he is survived by five children, Mary Lynn (Larry) Wilhelm of Johnsonburg, Kathy Mann-Yonker of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Wendy (Brian) Guttman of Arlington, Va., Stephen (Lynn Groeger) Mann of Johnsonburg, and Wayne Mann of Johnsonburg; 14 grandchildren, Cari Amacher; Katie, Ted and Ryan Wilhelm; Ethan and Seth Yonker; Liz and Jake Guttman; Michael Cherry; Stevie and Kaysie Mann; Jeffrey Mann, who resided with his grandparents for 17 years; and Devin and Jaryon Mann; three great-grandchildren, Lyla Yonker, Nora Haupricht and Mia Amacher; and three sisters, Barbara Dauber of Johnsonburg, Marlene Lowdermilk of Ridgway, and Susan Kelly of San Jose, Calif.In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Mann Sr., in 2007.A funeral service for Roger Francis Mann, “Pickle,” will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013 at the Ubel Funeral Home with Father David Wilson.The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013 from 10 – 11 a.m. at the Ubel Funeral Home, Johnsonburg. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Community Nurses, Inc. – Hospice or the McKean County Animal Shelter (SPCA).
