Robert M. Zurfluh

Robert M. Zurfluh, age 90, of 501 Upper Front St., Ridgway, died Monday evening, April 16, 2012, at Pinecrest Manor following a brief illness.He was born Sept. 30, 1921 in Ridgway, son of the late Peter and Anna M. (Miller) Zurfluh. He had resided in Ridgway for many years and was a former Hartford, Conn. resident for 35 years.He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he was an active member, a past board member of the Ridgway Public Library, and a member of the Joey's Bakery coffee clutch. Bob always had a joke to tell and brought out the best in everyone.He was a Ridgway Area High School graduate. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a veteran of World War II. He had been employed by Veeder-Root Company as a master tool maker in Hartford, Conn. for 35 years.Bob is survived by one brother, Donald R. Zurflah of Ligonier; one sister, Margaret Cattoni of Bradford; and numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Anderson and Doris McCoy; and by his beloved dog, Lady.Funeral and Committal Services for Robert M. Zurfluh will be held Saturday, APril 21, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. David C. Roddy, Pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Oakmont Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home on Friday evening, April 20, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. Memorials, if desired, may be made to be Trinity United Methodist Church or to the Ridgway Public Library.
