The first day of school can be intimidating for many students filled with anxiety and excitement. The Ridgway Area School District, from administration to teachers, go out of their way to ensure classrooms are safe and welcoming on the first day of school.
At the high school, the newly-minted senior class enjoyed coffee and donuts in the annual tailgate party that began just past 6 a.m. on Monday morning. As one senior parent confided later "It's the only day there will probably not be a snooze alarm hit 10 times in a row."
The seniors this year are very involved in school and community life, from sports teams and academic leagues to professional organizations such as DECA and the Junior Steering Committee for the Chamber of Commerce.
At the middle/high school, students are dropped off by bus or car in the upper traffic circle with the teachers directing where to assemble either in the auditorium for high school or the gym for middle schoolers. Teachers, staff, and administration all gathered to welcome the students back with a smile on their faces.
