Ridgway Firemen's Carnival kicks off Monday

The all-day rain dampened the grounds on the first night of the Ridgway Fireman's Carnival, but that didn't stop people from turning out for the Moore Brothers Band, French fries and pizza.
Neighbors and friends gathered when the grounds opened at 5 p.m., talking and eating under the main pavilion.
The first night of the carnival is traditionally a quieter evening, as the rides have not been set up yet, and there is no Bingo game.
Many residents turn up on this night just to visit and get that first pizza slice or basket of french fries.
