No change in Johnsonburg taxes

JOHNSONBURG – Residents in the Borough of Johnsonburg will not see an increase in taxes after council members voted in favor of fixing the tax rates to remain the same from last year.The real estate tax will remain at 21.36 mills and the occupation tax will remain at 237.5 mills.The 2012 budget was adopted at $1,801,811 during Monday afternoon's regular borough council meeting.Other taxes include a one-half of one percent earned income tax, a local services tax of $47; a $5 per capita tax and a one-half of one percent realty transfer tax.In other business, council agreed to pay $698.30 to share in the costs of a county-wide black fly suppression program."I know it's that time of year when you are all thinking about black flies, but the Elk County commissioners have sent us their annual request and they have calculated our share," said borough manager Mary Polaski.
