Mary Theresa Viglione Popson

Mary Theresa Viglione Popson, 79, of Highland View Health Care, Brockway, passed away peacefully, Monday, April 30, 2012, after an extended illness. She was born Jan. 16, 1933, in Ridgway, the daughter of Joseph and Lena Caggeso Viglione. On Sept. 6, 1969, she married James L. Popson, he predeceased her on Sept. 3, 2003. Mrs. Popson was a Ridgway resident all of her life. She was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church and she had attended St. Leo’s School. While residing on Penn Avenue, Mary was famous for sharing meals with all her neighbors, her flowers and her elaborate holiday decorations. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she was very proud of all their accomplishments. Mary’s gifts and talents have gone on to live in each one of them.She is survived by four children, Mary Lynn Parson (James) of Shippenville, Timothy Thomas (Susan), Christina Delhunty (James) and James Popson, all of Ridgway; 11 grandchildren, Julie Blum of Silver Spring, Md., Justin Parson of Brookville, Jenna Parson of Shippenville, Andrew Thomas (Heidi) of Ridgway, Anna Fernan (Mike) of Ridgway, John Thomas (Renee) of Ridgway, Mark Thomas of Ridgway, Joseph Delhunty (Carissa) of Ridgway, Samantha Carson (Chris) of Ridgway, Emily Delhunty of Ridgway, Shaddeus Popson of Brockway; and by 12 great-grandchildren. She was also survived by three sisters, Antoinette Kilhoffer of Ridgway, Carmella Distler (William) of New York, Jenny Morelli (Livio) of Ridgway; two brothers, Joseph Viglione (Sandra) of Ridgway, David Viglione (Patricia) of Hamburg, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Barbara Viglione of Ridgway; and by two step-children, Donna Colomino of Florida and Jeffrey Popson of South Carolina.She was predeceased by her parents; her beloved husband, James Popson; a brother, Michael Viglione; and by a brother-in-law, Louis Kilhoffer.A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Popson will be celebrated at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, on Thursday, May 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. Celebrating will be Msgr. Charles Kasa of St. Tobias Catholic Church. Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation. Funeral arrangements, are under the direction of the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home, Inc.
