Major League baseball stars down Ridgway

The St. Marys Little League Baseball Major League all-stars stayed alive in the District 10 South Division Tournament with a 15-1, four-inning victory over the Ridgway All-Stars Saturday afternoon at Memorial Park.St. Marys will travel to Fox Township this evening for a 6 p.m. game against the Fox Township squad. Fox defeated Brockway by a 7-5 score on Saturday.The St. Marys squad pounded out 13 hits in Saturday’s contest to two by the Ridgway team. St. Marys was led by Ryan Heary with a home run, double and a single. Gabe Kraus had a home run and a double. Logan Hoffman had a double, with Brendon Rolley and Hayden Tettis both with two singles. Tim Wehler, Nate Beimel and Ryan Bressler all singled. For Ridgway, Josh Thorwart doubled and Jordan Laughner singled.Gabe Kraus started on the mound for St. Marys and worked two innings, giving up one hit and striking out six. Tim Wehler worked two innings, giving up one hit and striking out one.Brandon Cherry started on the mound for Ridgway, giving up eight hits, walking two and striking out two. Max Cowan worked one inning, giving up two hits, walking two and striking out one. Andy Breier worked two innings, giving up three hits, walking three and striking out two.As a result of the coin toss, St. Marys was the visiting team on the scoreboard.In the top half of the first, Tim Wehler reached on a bunt single. Rolley and Heary followed with singles. Kraus doubled, scoring Wehler and Rolley. A single by Tettis scored Heary. Tettis stole second. With two outs, Bressler singled to score Kraus. A double steal by Bressler and Tettis resulted in Tettis stealing home as St. Marys took the 5-0 lead. Laughner led off with a single in the home half of the inning. Kraus struck out the next three batters.Rolley led off the second with a walk. Heary followed with a two-run home run to center field. Kraus followed with a solo shot to left field. Tettis singled and stole his way around the bases to score. Nate Beimel walked and stole second. Hoffman was hit by a pitch. Both Beimel and Hoffman moved up a base on a passed ball. Beimel scored on an infield out, while Hoffman was able to score on a passed ball as St. Marys led 12-0. In the home half of the second inning, Kraus struck out the side.Kraus led off the third with a walk. Special pinch runner Austin Sadosky moved to second on a passed ball. Tettis was hit by a pitch. Nate Beimel singled to load the bases. Sadosky was out attempting to score on a passed ball. With two outs, Ryan Newton walked to load the bases. Alec Wehler walked to score Tettis. Tim Wehler reached base on an error, allowing Nate Beimel to score as St. Marys opened a 14-0 lead. Ridgway scored a run in the home half of the inning when Josh Thorwart led off with a double. He moved to third on an infield out and scored on an infield out, making the score 14-1.Heary led off the top of the fourth with a double. With two outs, Nate Beimel walked. A double by Hofffman scored Heary as St. Marys led 15-1.
