Gloria Valentine Anderson, 84, of 769 Washington Rd., St. Marys, died on Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, at Elk Regional Health Center after a brief illness.
She was born Jan. 2, 1926, in Emporium, daughter of the late Charles and Ruth Husted Razey.
On Oct. 28, 1950 in the Sacred Heart Rectory, she married Firmin E. Valentine, who preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 1979. On June 6, 1982, in Ludlow, she married Bertil L. Anderson, who preceded her in death on March 23, 2002.
She was a graduate of Emporium High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Mansfield University. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ridgway and served as organist for seven years. She also was a former choir director and organist for the Shiloh Presbyterian Church in St. Marys. She organized and directed "The Singing Dutchmen" for 28 years. She also had been employed by the St. Marys Area School District for three years.
At her church, she was a Ruling Elder and had chaired the Worship Committee and the Organ Committee. She was a member of the American Choral Directors Association; the Presbyterian Association of Musicians, Pittsburgh Chapter; honorary life member of the Associated Male Choruses of America; past chairperson, Committee of Worship, Kiskiminetas Presbytery; and a past member of the General Council, Kiskiminetas Presbytery. She received the President's award from the Associated Male Choruses of America and had organized and planned for a county-wide chorus to present a concert for the Sesquincentennial Celebration.
She is survived by two daughters, Victoria Valentine and her husband, Mark Conrad of Reston, Va., and Elizabeth Valentine and her husband, Joseph Gow of Lacrosse, WI; two sons, Gregory C. Valentine and his financee, Mary Ann Wolfe of St. Marys and Kenneth T. Valentine and his wife, Mary Beth of Charlotte, NC; two stepsons, James Anderson of Mechanicsburg and Douglas Anderson of Butler; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Karen Stanton and her husband, David of Plains, Kan.
Beside her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Razey.
Funeral services for Gloria Valentine Anderson will be held in the First Presbyterian Church in Ridgway on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mark Cantaral officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Center Street, St. Marys, on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
