JOHNSONBURG – Thursday evening, Todd Fannin, who has consistently voiced his displeasure with Common Core State Standards, asked the Johnsonburg Area School Board of Directors to consider the implications of participating in the program and presented a written statement reflecting his views.
"I don't think of the children in our community as just students, I think of them as a reflection of the best that Johnsonburg can contribute to our own humanity," he said. "I believe if we do not take back some local control to maintain our traditions and religious beliefs, then our humanity will be lost.
"There's nothing constitutional about Common Core," he continued. "Because it was not involved in a legislative process."
