Marie Aharrah, 85, formerly of 457 Montmorenci Rd., Ridgway, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 8, 2014 at Pinecrest Manor following a lengthy illness.
She was born May 3, 1928 in Heath Township, Jefferson County, daughter of the late Harry and Keith (Painter) Silvis. She married John D. (Nip) Aharrah on Aug. 5, 1950, he preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 2007.
She had resided in Ridgway for many years and was a member of the Ridgway Church of the Nazarene where she was involved in many aspects of the church. She had also been a past member of the Ridgway Women's Club. Marie was a graduate of the Brookville High School. She had been employed by the Elk County General Hospital and by Dr. W.W. Thompson as a secretary in his office.
She is survived by one son, Steven J. Aharrah and his wife Peggy of Ridgway; two grandsons, Steven J. Aharrah II and his wife Amy of Smethport, Gary Aharrah and his wife Kelly of Hollidaysburg; and two great-grandsons, Brandon and Justin.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Clark, Wayne, Guy Silvis, and Cecil Silvis in infancy.
A memorial service for Marie Aharrah will be held at the Ridgway Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Joseph Miller, Pastor of the Ridgway Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be at Edeburn Cemetery.
There will be no visitation. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Ridgway Church of the Nazarene at 23 Metoxet St., Ridgway, Pa. 15853.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home.
