Mary K. Placer, 76, of Ridgway, formerly of Sistersville, W. Va., died suddenly Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 at her residence in Ridgway with her son Jeff at her side.
She was born Dec. 11, 1937 in Alvy, W. Va., daughter of the late Leonard and Oma Glover.
She married R. Homer Placer on July 3, 1957.
Mary attended Tyler County High School in West Virginia. She was a homemaker and worked various jobs in West Virginia, including Murphy's restaurant and home care/babysitting.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Ridgway. Her hobbies included her family, bingo, puzzles, and watching the Game Show Network. She enjoyed classic country music, talking on the phone and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her only son, Jeffrey (Brenda) of Ridgway; and two grandchildren, Justin Placer (Kimberly) of Penfield and Jordan Placer of Ridgway; five brothers, Leonard Glover of Chardon, Ohio, Irene Lohr of Port Charlotte, Fla., William Glover of Lawrenceville, Fla., Leroy Glover (Patti) of Sistersville, W. Va., and Joseph Glover (Rosalie) of Strongsville, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Robert Watkins of Onsted, Mich.; her beloved sister-in-law, Deloris Placer of Sistersville, W. Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R. Homer Placer on May 13, 1999; a sister, Marie Watkins; two sisters-in-law, Rose Glover and Shirley Glover; and a brother-in-law, Fred "Chop" Lohr.
Friends were received at Myers Funeral Home in Sistersville, W. Va. on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014 at the funeral home.
