William G. “Bill” Fusco, 88, Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at UPMC Altoona.
He was born May 13, 1925, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Joe and Edith (Paladino) Fusco.
On April 17, 1947, he married Phyllis J. (Hewitt) Fusco, who survives.
He was a member of the Saints Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church of Punxsutawney.
He was employed as a salesman for the Phillip Morris Company for more than 30 years.
After graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corp, where he served in the Pacific during World War II, serving with the 1st Division.
He was a past president of the Lions Club, a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and a member of the Punxsutawney B.P.O.E. Elks.
He served as a county auditor for eight years and also served as the president of the Association of County Auditors.
In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include a son, William Nicholas Fusco and wife Andrea of Charleston, S.C.; two grandchildren, Benjamin Fusco and wife Kim of Baltimore, M.D., and Jessica Allen and husband Jason of Florence, S.C.; three great-grandchildren, Isabella, Elisabeth and Matthew Allen; and a brother, Joe Fusco and wife Edith of Ridgway.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, George, Frank, Albert and Jim Fusco.
A funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at SS.C.D., with Monsignor Joseph Riccardo officiating.
Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Punxsutawney.
