Donald R. DeVallance, 88, of 1475 Montmorenci Rd., Ridgway, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, March 13, 2013 at his residence.
He was born Jan. 14, 1925 in Brockwayville, son of the late Norman Lane and Altha Venice (Dillon) DeVallance.
He married Rhea M. Smith on Feb. 17, 1947, and she survives.
He had resided in Ridgway since 1930 and was a former Brockway resident. He was a member of the Ridgway Church of the Nazarene and the NRA.
He had served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of WWII. He had been employed by the Elliott Company, Domtar, and at Quality Components for 16 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Donald E. DeVallance and his wife Diane of Ridgway and Douglas R. DeVallance and his wife Shawna of Warriors Mark; a daughter, Marcia DeVallance Steis and her husband Jeffrey of Ridgway; a daughter-in-law, Patty DeVallance Kucenski of Ridgway; nine grandchildren, Donn, Kimberly, David, Randall, Evan, Kayla, Nathan, Lindsay, and Laureen; three great-grandchildren, Spenser, Delaney, and Laura; his twin sister, Shirley May DeVallance of Ridgway; and two nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary L. DeVallance; and three brothers, Robert E. DeVallance, Norman DeVallance Jr., and James DeVallance.
Funeral services for Donald R. DeVallance will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home, 136 Center St., Ridgway, on Friday evening, March 15, at 7 p.m.
Burial will be at Oakmont Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home on Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ridgway Ambulance Corp. or to the Ridgway YMCA.
