John F. Weidert, 73, of Burgettstown, died Monday, March 4, 2013, 10:50 p.m. in Weirton Medical Center.
He was born on March 1, 1940 in Ridgway, son of the late Francis Ottomar and Clara Cecilia Buhler Weidert.
Mr. Weidert was a 1958 graduate of Ridgway High School and a 1962 graduate of Pennsylvania State University, earning a degree in Forestry.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War Era.
Mr. Weidert had lived in Burgettstown since 1962 and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, American Legion Post 698 and the Knights of Columbus Council 3440, all of Burgettstown.
He was the owner and operator of Burgettstown Hardware since 1991.
Surviving Mr. Weidert are: two daughters, Terry Lee Weidert and Frances Lee Weidert, both of Burgettstown; three nephews, Robert (Mimi) Weidert and William Weidert, both of Florida, and Joseph (Jan) Brunner of Ridgway; two nieces, Diane (Steve) Morris of Texas and Mary Brunner of Florida; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Weidert of Texas and Lori Jones of Ridgway.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents are two brothers, William and Robert Weidert; and a sister, Eleanor Brunner.
There will be no visitation.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., the time of the Memorial Mass, on Saturday, March 9, in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, located at 1109 Main St., Burgettstown, PA 15021, with Rev. Robert M. Staszewski officiating.
Interment will be held at a later date in the Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full military honors accorded by the American Legion Bert C. Siders Post 643 of Avella.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Burgettstown Community Library, 2 Kerr St., Burgettstown, PA.
