Clarence A. "Kike" Mowrey, 85, of 410 Clarion Rd., Johnsonburg, died early Thursday morning, Feb. 28, 2013 at Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys following a brief illness.
He was born on Sept. 24, 1927, in Johnsonburg, son of the late Byron and Lillian Anderson Mowrey.
On Dec. 23, 1950, he married Margaret M. Fedus, and she preceded him in death June 13, 1992.
Mr. Mowrey resided in Johnsonburg all his life and attended Johnsonburg High School. He was employed by Penntech Papers, Inc. for 43 years, retiring in 1990. He was also a member of the Central Hose Co. and Rolfe Sportsmen's Club. He was a WWII Army veteran, serving overseas in Japan as a corporal with the HQ Co. 1st Engineer Group for which he received the World War II Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal - Japan.
He is survived by two daughters, Mary Fedus of Johnsonburg and Barbara, Mrs. John Hetrick, of Johnsonburg; a son, Donald "Don" Mowrey at home; three grandchildren, Michael Hetrick of Pittsburgh, Marc Hetrick and his wife Katie of Johnsonburg, and Amy Hetrick of Johnsonburg; two great-grandchildren, Marshall and Maggie Hetrick; two sisters, Edith "Charlotte" Milford of Rochester, N.Y. and Ruth, Mrs. Frank Austin of Gerry, N.Y.; and a brother, Charles "Chuck" Mowrey of Dunnellon, Fla.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Mowrey; three brothers, Harry, William, and Byron Mowrey Jr.; and a sister, Alice DeLong.
A Funeral Service for Clarence A. Mowrey will be conducted at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home on Saturday, March 2 at 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Jay Tennies, pastor of the Johnsonburg United Methodist Church.
Military honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg-Wilcox Servicemen's Detail. Detail members are asked to assemble at the funeral home Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m.
Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut Street, Johnsonburg on Saturday morning from 10-11 a.m.
