Ridgway wrestling won 37-23 over Oswayo Valley Tuesday night at Ridgway Area High School.
Only six matches were wrestled on the mat with each team winning three bouts. Ridgway won four matches via forfeit while Oswayo Valley only won one match via forfeit which would be a difference in the Elkers winning the dual.
T.J. Schlimm opened the dual by winning by forfeit at 145 pounds for a 6-0 Ridgway lead. Zac McKnight would double Ridgway's lead with a pinfall victory over Daniel Mehl in the 152-pound bout at 2:40. McKnight had a takedown in the first period to take a 2-0 before adding three more points in the second period for a 5-0 edge before securing the pin to give Ridgway a 12-0 lead.
Oswayo Valley scored their first points of the dual by winning a technical fall at 160 pounds over Mike Popson of Ridgway. Colebert was dominant throughout the bout, scoring a takedown 20 seconds in and then setting two sets of three back points to take an 8-0 lead after the first period. Colebert led 14-0 after the second period and then added another three points in the third period to take a 17-0 technical fall in 4:45. This put the Green Wave within seven at 12-5.
Dalton Sheasley would respond for the Elkers with a 12-1 major decision over Kyle Wilcox of Oswayo Valley. Sheasley took down Wilcox midway through the first period and then added a set of three back points for a 5-0 lead entering the second period. Wilcox opened the second period in the down position and was able to keep the period scoreless entering the third period. Sheasley opened the period down and scored a reversal and three back points for a 10-0 lead before Wilcox earned an escape. Sheasley added another takedown for good measure to take the major decision victory.
