Marie L. Black, 76, of 1095 Baughman Hill Rd., Sigel, died on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012 at Kane Community Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born Oct. 6, 1936 in Ridgway, a daughter of the late Andrew and Helen Beuhler Abplanalp.
She was married to Victor Black, who survives.
Marie was a graduate of Ridgway High School and a member of the Faith United Church of Christ. She worked for many years at the former Elk County General Hospital as a registered nurse in the maternity ward and then as a supervisor. She was an excellent quilter and at one time had owned her own shop, Hidden Heart Quilting Shop. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the VFW, the Legion and the Eagles. Most of all, she enjoyed quilting, gardening and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, Victor Black, she is survived by two sons, Curt Gosnell and his wife Patty of Ridgway, and Carl Gosnell of Ridgway; a daughter, Sally Warner and her companion Ron Feldbauer of Ridgway; three stepsons, Karl Nagel of Industry, Eddie Nagel and his wife Veronica of Iowa, and Jesse Black of Halton; one stepdaughter, Cornelia Noah of Industry; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Ruth Gosnell of Ohio and Margaret, Mrs. Bill Dean of York; and one brother-in-law, Bill Lake of Beaver Falls.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Curt Potter Gosnell; a son, Theodore Salberg in 1991; and three sisters, Marilyn Abplanalp, Betty Lake and one in infancy.
A Memorial Service for Marie L. Black is being scheduled and will be announced at a later date.
