JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg football program celebrated the 2012 football season Sunday afternoon with a banquet and awards ceremony at the high school.
Johnsonburg varsity football coach Jesse Schreiber, who earlier this year earned his first varsity victory and followed it with a 13-12 win over rival Ridgway later in the season, paid tribute to his coaching staff, players, and several individuals working behind the scenes.
"I appreciate the Gridiron Club because without you guys, the parents and everyone, none of this would be. The 50/50, banquet, lunches during triple sessions and feeding our scrimmage opponents, without you guys it's not possible, and we really truly appreciate it," Schreiber said. "I really appreciate the administration at Johnsonburg for allowing me to come back again this year and spend time with your sons. It's a long season for two and a half to three months, the 11 weeks that we do it, and that's a lot of time, and the time during the summer as well.
"I really appreciate the opportunity. Again, I'm thankful for the junior high staff. A lot of these guys are unpaid and on a volunteer basis, and without their time coming here, it's not possible."
