Joanne B. Hoffman, 78, of 1935 Bear Creek Rd., died following Wednesday evening, Nov. 14, 2012, at the home of her daughter following an illness of the past nine months.
She was born July 25, 1934 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Earl T. and Marie P. [Baumgratz] Steis.
She married David L. Young on Dec. 10, 1953, he preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1988; she then married James A. Hoffman on Feb. 14, 1990, and he survives.
She had resided in Ridgway all of her life and was a graduate of the Ridgway High School. She was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church, was a past Worthy Matron of Elizabeth Early Chapter #208, a past Worthy High Priestess and past Watchman of the Shepherds of the Ida Rebecca Shrine #50. She had been a self-employed beautician at Joan's Beauty Shop for 40 years.
Surviving besides her husband is one daughter, Debra Lee Duffee and her husband Roger of Ridgway; two grandchildren, Travis W. Duffee of North Carolina and Deeana J. Snyder of DuBois; six great-grandchildren, Samantha, Shelby, Shayna, Thomas, Jaden and Ethan; one brother, Wayne A. Steis and his wife Linda of St. Marys; two stepsons, Charles W. Hoffman and his wife Diane of Ridgway, and Wayne A. Hoffman and his wife Bonnie of Ridgway; nine step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a half-brother, Ivan [Boots] Baumgratz; and a stepson, Douglas J. Hoffman.
A Memorial Service for Joanne B. Hoffman will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 at 2 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Erik Hart, Pastor of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
