The Ridgway Area School district held a Act 130 tax discussion during Tuesday night's regular school board meeting to further prepare voters for the November general election.
In attendance were several members of the general public and members of the Ridgway Area Teacher's Association [RATA].
The discussion, led by RASD Finance Manager Brent Rhoads, focused on a board approved referendum that is designed to repeal its existing earned income tax and replace the lost revenue by increasing the existing earned income tax by .4 percent.
"Act 130 was signed by the governor in 2008," Rhoads said. "It amended Act 24 of 2001, both of those allow us to eliminate the occupation tax by increasing the earned income tax."
