Ann E. Krise, 69, of 520 West Main St., Kersey, died Thursday morning, Oct. 4, 2012 at her residence following a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was born Jan. 13, 1943 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Charles and Catherine (Dinsmore) Johnston.
Ann had a wild spirit that was one-of-a-kind and will be deeply missed by all. She was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1960. She was the first class which moved from Kersey High School to graduate. During her school days she enjoyed many athletic activities including baseball, basketball, tennis, swimming and camping. These skills she instilled into her six children and grandchildren.
Ann worked at Muccio Bus Lines, Rolo Jensen and Intec Metals. She is most known for being the proprietor of The Last Chance Inn in Dagus Mines. There she enjoyed being on winning teams for the Darts League, Shuffleboard League and the Pool Leagues. She was a secretary of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending numerous hours with her grandchildren, taking them camping and enjoying many outdoor activities. She loved attending events such as Jamboree in the Hills, West Line Leek Festival, Bike Week and Last Chance Bar Room Olympics.
She is survived by six children, Cathy Hand, Raymond Krise, Randy (Stephanie) Krise, Colleen (Lary) Anders, Russel (Tammy) Krise, and Christa (Scott) Wright; grandchildren John Kesterholt, Michele Hand, Lisa McKellips, Kristin Hand Meyer, Angela Krise, Roy Krise, Tiffany Krise, Steven Anders, Stacey Anders, Shawn Anders, Danielle Himes, Russel Krise Jr., Devin Constable, and Sarah Krise; great-grandchildren Jared Glass, Malia Glass, Jayla Glass, Kalena McKellips, Anthony Himes, and Connor Himes; sisters Linda Heigel, Cindy Detch, and Judy Marchori; brothers Gordon Johnston, Richard Johnston, and Harry Koss; numerous nieces and nephews; and her former husband, Raymond Krise.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Johnston; her uncles Raymond Dinsmore and Charles Dinsmore; and an aunt, Elinor Johnston Krise.
A Mass of Christian Burial and Committal for Ann E. Krise will be celebrated at St. Boniface Catholic Church on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Fr. David Foradori of St. Michael's Catholic Church in DuBois. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery in Kersey.
Visitation will be private.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Fox Township Ambulance Service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home.
