JOHNSONBURG – The Ramettes turned in a worthwhile performance Thursday but fell short against a powerful DuBois tennis team in a 9-0 defeat.
"DuBois is an outstanding team," said Johnsonburg head girls varsity tennis coach Gregg Dauber. "We played well but when we made some shots, [DuBois] made better shots. You can tolerate losing and playing well, and we never like losing, but playing as well as we did and still losing makes it easier to deal with."
In the first singles match, DuBois' Kristina Toretti defeated Johnsonburg's Riley Fannin, 6-1, 6-0; at No. 2 singles, DuBois' Natalie Newcamp dropped Johnsonburg's Josie Del Rio, 6-0, 6-0; at No. 3 singles, DuBois' Michelle Wenerd defeated Johnsonburg's Paige Martonik, 6-0, 6-0; at No. 4 singles, DuBois' Alaina Anaud defeated Johnsonburg's Andrea Allegretto, 6-2, 6-1; at No. 5 singles, DuBois' Megan Muhollan dropped Johnsonburg's Cheyenne Johnson, 6-0, 6-1.
