The Ridgway baseball major league division all-stars hosted DuBois in its first District 10 Little League tournament game as DuBois won 20-2 in four innings over Ridgway at the Ridgway Little League fields along Grant Road.
DuBois left little doubt in the outcome after a 14-run first inning. Center fielder Kolby Ho and second baseman Mitchell Ferra walked to start the game. First baseman Daron Walker singled to load the bases and shortstop Peter Foradora walked to plate Ho for the game's first run.
Starting pitcher Thomas Grecco singled to score Ferra and right fielder Dalton Conrad walked which plated Walker. Third baseman Nick Cotter then roped a 2-run singled which scored Foradora and pinch runner Robbie Martini. Left fielder Mason Brittion then reached on an error which scored Conrad. Cotter later scored on a wild pitch. After Ferra walked in his second plate appearance of the inning, Britton scored on a wild pitch. Walker reached on a Ridgway error and Foradora singled. Ferra later scored on a wild pitch. Grecco singled home Walker for a 9-0 DuBois lead.
Cotter and catcher Jack Mohney would each have RBI singles as DuBois would stretch the lead to 14-0 after the top of the first.
Grecco was dominant on the mound for DuBois, throwing two perfect innings and recording five strikeouts in the process.
Zach Thompson and Cotter had RBI singles in the second inning while Mohney drove two runs around with a single. Kevin Beck had an RBI single and Walker doubled home Mohney in the second inning as DuBois put six runs up on the scoreboard.
Max Cowan was able to keep DuBois from growing the lead further as he threw two scoreless innings in relief for Ridgway. Cowan was able to strike out four in the pitching effort. J.D. Laughner had five strikeouts as he recorded the first six outs in a relief effort for Ridgway.
Ridgway was able to end the game with some offense, scoring a pair of runs in the fourth inning. Andy Breier and Cowan hit back-to-back singles. A fielder's choice from Brandon Cherry moved Breier and Cowan up to second and third. Both runners scored on a 2-run single from Jake Reynolds.
Walker and Cotter each had three hits and three runs scored for DuBois. Cotter finished with four RBI, Mohney had three.
Ridgway is scheduled to play the loser of the St. Marys/Punxsutawney game on Saturday. Time and site are to be announced.
