Stanley R. "Patsy" Redmond Jr., 85, of 804 Dill Hill Rd., Johnsonburg and 174 Soneto Ct., SE, Port St. Lucie, Fla, died Tuesday evening, June 12, 2012, at UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, following a brief illness.
He was born on March 23, 1927 in Falconer, N.Y., son of the late Stanley R. and Mildred Tarnoski Redmond. On Sept. 23, 1950, in the Sacred Heart Church, St. Marys, he married Leah R. Dornish, who survives.
He resided in Johnsonburg since he was 1 1/2 years old and spent seven months of the year in Florida each year since 1988. He graduated from Johnsonburg High School, Class of 1946.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg, the Johnsonburg Elks and Johnsonburg Senior Center, and the American Legion Post in Port St. Lucie, Fla. He was an avid bowler and loved to make birdhouses.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving overseas as a corporal with the 30th Bomb Squadron, 19th Bomb Group in the Pacific Theater. He co-owned and operated Redmond Brothers Redi-Mix for 40 years, retiring in 1988. He had also worked for the New York & Pennsylvania Company Paper Mill for 23 1/2 years.
In addition to his wife Leah at home, he is survived by two sons and a daughter, Stephen C. Redmond and his wife Sandra of McKees Rocks, Vincent J. Redmond and his wife Tracey of Rock Hill, S.C., and Diane, Mrs. Dennis Kaveney of St. Marys; six grandchildren, Adam, Steven and Jessica Redmond, Kristy Wisman, Trista Sallack and Christopher Kaveney, 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, James Redmond and his wife Marion of Mentnor, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Edward Redmond and Robert Redmond; a sister, Rita Myers; and a great-granddaughter, Cameron Rae Wisman in infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Stanley R. "Patsy" Redmond Jr. will be conducted at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 10 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor. Interment will be held at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Johnsonburg.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg, on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Military honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg-Wilcox Servicemen's Detail. Detail members are asked to assemble at the funeral home Saturday morning at 9:15 a.m.
