Audrey E. Dwyer, age 90, of Penn Street, Johnsonburg, died Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Elk Regional Health Center after a lengthy illness.
She was born July 24, 1921 in Kane, daughter of the late Edward and Frances (Wold) Kranking. She married Daniel A. Dwyer on June 27, 1953; he preceded her in death Oct. 2, 1994.
A 1939 graduate of Johnsonburg High School, she worked at Indiantown Gap military base during WWII and also worked many years with the Ubel Fashion Shop, Furniture Store and Funeral Home.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and served as a Girl Scout leader, neighborhood chairperson and vice president of the Keystone Tall Tree Girl Scout Council. She served as director and for many years as treasurer of the Johnsonburg Chamber of Commerce, and many years as the president of the Johnsonburg/Wilcox Community Fund.
Born and raised in Johnsonburg, she lived in Ridgway for 13 years and had been back in Johnsonburg since 1966.
She is survived by two children, Diane Dwyer of Johnsonburg and John (Lisa) Dwyer, also of Johnsonburg; and two grandchildren, Dylan and Danie Jo.
She was predeceased by her parents and husband.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Audrey E. Dwyer will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Johnsonburg, with Father David Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Johnsonburg.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 10, 2012 from 6-9 p.m. and Wednesday, April 11, 2012 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Ubel Funeral Home, Johnsonburg.
