Edward "Epp" Addeo, 91, of 415 Ridgway Ave., Johnsonburg, died Sunday morning, April 1, 2012 at his residence following a lengthy illness.
He was born on Dec. 29, 1920 in Johnsonburg, son of the late Frank and Dora Cerro Addeo.
On Nov. 27, 1946, he married Rose E. Azzato. She preceded him in death on Oct. 10, 1990.
He was a lifelong resident of Johnsonburg and graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1939.
He was a WWII Coast Guard veteran, having served as a Seaman First Class aboard the cargo transport ship "Alameda" and the USS LST 761.
He was employed by Penntech Papers for 38 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church and Camp BEJO and a former member of the Prince of Piedmont Club. He loved his grandchildren and liked to hunt, fish, and bowl.
He is survived by two daughters, Nancy Addeo of New Jersey, and Patty, Mrs. Eric Poague of Johnsonburg; two grandchildren, Jesse Poague of Johnsonburg and Rani Poague of Bellefonte.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Patsy "Oscar," John "Bert," Louis "Smokey" and Frank Addeo; and two sisters, Margaret "Mick" Marrone and Clara Asti.
A Memorial Mass for Edward "Epp" Addeo will be conducted at Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 10 a.m., with Pastor David J. Wilson officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg-Wilcox Servicemen's Burial Detail. Detail members are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m.
Interment will be in the Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home at 401 Chestnut St. in Johnsonburg on Tuesday, April 3 from 6 to 8 p.m.
