BROCKPORT – Scholarship applications are available at the Horton Township Municipal Building for any graduating high school seniors pursuing a post-high school education in all fields of study.
The $500 scholarship funded by the Elk County Association of Township Officials is given away every year, according to Horton Township Supervisor Jeff Johnson.
Secretary Dennis Thompson suggests for parents who have a child planning on enrolling in college to come by and pickup an application.
"It sure helps out," said township auditor Dan Lines. "It will help out with covering the cost of books."
To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must reside in one of the nine Elk County townships. Applicants are encouraged to attend one of their local monthly township meetings. Also, applications must be signed by one township supervisor and are due by May 4, 2012.
For more information on the scholarship contact Jeff Johnson at 814-752-6279.
In other business, Horton Township Fire Chief Chad Guaglianone will be bringing the new fire truck 30 minutes early [5:30 p.m.] to the next regular Horton Township Supervisors meeting on Wednesday, April 11 for residents to stop by and take a look.
Guaglianone reported 11 calls in February; 10 QRS and one car accident.
