JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg High School is producing "The Sound of Music" for the upcoming weekend’s festivities. Show times will be Friday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 10 at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Ginger Schreiber, Drama Club Advisor says this year’s production has 10 percent of the student body.
“It seems like more and more kids come out every year,” Schreiber said. “This year we have 34 children, and there are only 340 kids in the whole school.”
Singing, dancing and action won’t fall short this year.
“This production has 100 minutes of singing; the singing outweighs the speaking parts,” Schreiber said. “The stage is totally different because we have three places where action moves into. There is only a two minute lapse in the whole show where there is no action.”
Twelve years ago Schreiber produced "The Sound of Music," but decided to visit the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic again.
“I have double the cast I did 12 years ago,” Schreiber said. “The kids wanted to do something well-known, and this year is the 45th anniversary of 'The Sound of Music.'”
