Lorrayne Cuthbert Fogg, age 85, of Millersville, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2012, at Hospice of Lancaster County in Mt. Joy.
Born in Laurel Springs, N.J., she was the daughter of the late William Earl Cuthbert and Verna Bressler Cuthbert.
She was a graduate of Ridgway High School and the former Indiana State Teacher’s College. She also took graduate courses at the University of Pittsburgh, Penn State, Westminster College at Princeton and Oxford University in England.
A member of First Presbyterian Church on East Orange St., she served on the Board of Deacons, Session, and was a Stephen Minister. She also sang in the choir.
She taught music in the public schools in Pennsylvania for 28 years, the last 17 in the Hempfield Area School District. She also taught at Lancaster Country Day School and the Lancaster Jewish Day School.
Following retirement, she was a tutor for foreign students in ESL and reading students for the Lancaster/Lebanon Literacy Council. She was a former board member of the Women’s Symphony Association, Delta Sigma Epsilon, and a number of educational groups.
She is survived by a son, Robert H. Fogg, Jr., husband of Sandra, of Holtwood; four step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. Lorrayne was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Anne Fogg, and a sister, Vern Cuthbert Bixby.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Lorrayne’s Life Celebration Memorial Service at First Presbyterian Church, 140 E. Orange St., Lancaster, on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Donald W. Hackett officiating. Inurnment will be in the church memorial garden. The family will receive friends at church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
