Ridgway girls basketball billed Senior Night as "Nicole Night" for the Lady Elkers' lone senior, Nicole Breier.
Breier had a career night and a victory to remember her night by.
Breier finished with 27 points as Ridgway won its first game of the season, 57-17 over Harmony.
"It was nice to win," Breier said. "It was my highest scoring game ever, that was exciting. I wasn't expecting it. I thought it would be a good game but I wasn't expecting us to win by that much."
The Ridgway senior scored the game's opening basket against the Lady Owls and Taylor Roseto followed for the Lady Elkers with a hoop on a second chance opportunity. After another Breier field goal, Katie Oknefski rushed in for a transition layup and an 8-0 lead. Breier would add her third field goal of the quarter in transition with two minutes left for a 10-0 lead.
Stephanie Maseto would score Harmony's only points of the first quarter with a 2-point field goal with 1:45 left. Roseto answered quickly for the Lady Elkers and Breier finished the quarter with a hoop 10 seconds from the end of the first quarter. She finished with eight in the opening eight minutes.
"Nicole's been an incredible player her whole career," Ridgway coach Glenn Schauer said. "She has over 900 rebounds, over 600 points. She's one of the better forwards in the league, I think. She does a really nice job and works hard every time."
Roseto and Maseto would alternate field goals to open the second quarter. Breier then stole the ball in her own backcourt and received a lead pass for a layup and an 18-4 lead. Roseto followed with a layup of her own and a 20-4 lead. Amanda Royer and Oknefski alternated field goals then Breier added another pair of points to push the lead to 24-6. Lindsay Welteroth buried a 3-pointer with just over a minute left and a Breier field goal upped the lead to 26-9 at halftime.
Ridgway scored the first 12 points of the third quarter as the Lady Elkers were pulling away by that point. The 12-0 run started as Jenni Thomas opened with a field goal and Christine Schauer added a pair of free throws. Breier converted on an offensive rebound and then added two more field goals as Ridgway led 38-9.
Royer hit a jumper for Harmony's only two points of the third quarter. Angela DeAngelo added a layup and Schauer added four straight points as the third quarter began to close. An Oknefski hoop near the end of the third quarter had Ridgway ahead 46-11.
"They played well, everything they did, they executed well," coach Schauer said.
Breier stepped beyond the arc early in the fourth quarter and hit a 3-pointer and pushed the lead to 49-11. A basket from Ellen Toncich enacted the running clock at 51-11 as the teams began to put younger players and backups in.
Roseto and Oknefski finished with eight points and Schauer had six points for Ridgway.
Ridgway (1-20) is scheduled to close the regular season next Friday at St. Marys.
In Wednesday's junior varsity game, Ridgway won 34-16.
