The Ridgway Township Supervisors held a special meeting Wednesday afternoon to adopt a stormwater ordinance mandated by the Department of Environmental Protection [DEP].
"This was mandated by DEP for all of the counties to adopt a stormwater management plan," said chairman John Gardner.
Now, as required by the stormwater management ordinance, a Small Project Stormwater Management Application is required whenever less than 5,000 square feet of impervious surface is proposed.
According to the application, impervious surfaces are areas that prevent the infiltration of water into the ground and shall include, but not be limited to, roofs, patios, garages, storage sheds and similar structures and any new streets or sidewalks.
"Every time somebody is going to build something now they have to fill out this form," said supervisor Milly Bowers.
