Lawrence J. "Skinny" Wolfe, 90, of Pinecrest Manor, St. Marys, and formerly of 407 Blaine Ave., Johnsonburg, died Wednesday, December 14, 2011 following a lengthy illness.
He was born on April 11, 1921 in Johnsonburg, son of the late John and Susan Ruben Wolfe.
He married Christine Amacher on July 4, 1942 in Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg. She survives.
Mr. Wolfe resided in Johnsonburg all his life and graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1940. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church, the Rolfe Sportsmen's Club, Central Hose Company, American Legion Post 501, all in Johnsonburg. He was an avid hunter.
Mr. Wolfe was a WWII veteran, having served in the Army as a staff sergeant with the 1560th Service Command Unit. He was employed by Penntech Papers of Johnsonburg for over 43, years retiring in 1983.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Richard R. "Louie" Wolfe and his wife Sharon of Johnsonburg; three goddaughters, Joanne Asti, Maureen Monaghan and Barbara Rindos; and by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, John "Jack" Wolfe and one goddaughter, Diane Russell.
A Memorial Mass for Lawrence J. "Skinny" Wolfe will be conducted at Holy Rosary Church on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011 at 10 a.m., with the Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Wardvale Lutheran Cemetery in Johnsonburg.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg, on Tuesday from 8-9:30 a.m.
Military honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg-Wilcox Servicemen's Detail. Detail members are asked to assemble at the funeral home Tuesday morning at 9:45 a.m.
