Daniel F. Kemmerer Sr., age 80, of Rockmart, Ga., died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, in a Rome Medical Center.
He was born in Ridgway on Dec. 13, 1930, a son of the late Raymond J. Kemmerer and Mary DeGroat Kemmerer. He had been a resident of Rockmart since 1997, moving there from New Smyrna Beach, Fla.
He was a member of the Aragon United Methodist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Kemmerer retired from the IBM Corporation as a service representative with 36 years of service.
He was preceded in death by a brother, David Lee Kemmerer, in 1979, and a sister, Rosemary Lawther, in 2003.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia (Ginger) Kemmerer of Rockmart to whom he was married on Feb. 16, 1963; a son, Daniel F. Kemmerer Jr., Travelers Rest, S.C.; a daughter, Sheila Kemmerer Glaze, Rockmart; two sisters, Barbara Ann Magrini, Ridgway, and Donna Mae Edge, East Dublin, Ga.; and seven grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the Aragon United Methodist Church with his Pastor the Rev. Andrew Woodworth presiding.
