The Ridgway Area United Community Fund has kicked off its campaign for the 2011-2012 year.
This year's goal is again $25,000 and all of the funding will go directly back to the community.
This year's benefactors are: Ridgway YMCA, Elk County Council on the Arts [ECCOTA], Ridgway Elk County Historical Society, Ridgway Public Library, Ridgway Girl Scouts, Ridgway Boy Scouts, Ridgway Baseball Association and Little League and Salvation Army.
According to Community Fund campaign chairperson Michelle Bogacki, the Community Fund has almost reached 50 percent of its goal.
For this campaign, Bogacki is asking for a one dollar per pay donation or a one-time gift equal to $25 or more.
"It's been going pretty well," Bogacki said. "We have always said any amount no matter how big or small is greatly appreciated to these nonprofits."
Bogacki said a mass mailer has already been sent out to residents in the 15853 zip code.
Pledge cards have also been placed with employee's paychecks.
"A lot of industry have their payroll systems farmed out," Bogacki said. "This makes it very difficult to have a stuffer to go with it, so we are just reaching out to each company, industry and individuals with a mass mailer to the 15853."
Money will continue to be raised until June of 2012.
Donations can be mailed to the Ridgway Area United Community Fund at 300 Main St., Ridgway, PA 15853.
