The Ridgway Area School District's Board of Directors approved a four-year administrative compensation plan during Tuesday night's meeting.
The new contract will increase the administration's salaries by six percent over four years, beginning July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2016.
Raises will increase by a half percent the first year. The second and third year will each increase by two percent and the final year of the contract will increase by one and a half percent.
Based on superintendent Dr. Michael O'Brien's first quarter performance and the administrative compensation plan, board members voted in favor of increasing O'Brien's salary by $5,000 after a discussion held in executive session.
O'Brien's annual salary is now his requested $120,000.
"He's doing a great job," said finance manager Brent Rhoads.
In other business, board member Gloria Almquist reported her findings after attending a school leadership conference held in Hershey from Oct. 18-21 at the Hershey Convention Center.
Almquist said the theme behind this year's conference was to "Stand Up for Public Education."
"Public education is under attack now more than ever," Almquist said. "We believe public education stakeholders must come together with a shared voice and proclaim their success in educating generations of Pennsylvanians. It's time for you to tell your school entity's story."
According to Almquist, Pennsylvania has made eight straight years of improvement in student achievement in math and reading. Pennsylvania was ranked seventh in the country for K-12 student achievement and 9th overall.
