Ridgway’s quartet of seniors won 4-0 over Curwensville Saturday morning at Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School.
The seniors are Ryan McClelland, Tad Pierce, Kyle Kinkead and Greg Paige.
“The seniors, I couldn’t be prouder of them,” Ridgway coach John Ogden said. “Ryan, he just came on this year and he picked it up right away. It’s been a blast and when you talk about leaders, those are the kind of leaders you want on your team. It’s nice to see them finish with a better season than they’ve been accustomed to. It’s a good group of kids.”
Pierce had a hat trick against the Golden Tide, scoring in the first five minutes of the game.
“He leads us in goals and I think he’s had the most goals for Ridgway for a few years,” Ogden said. “The change from defense to offense was good for him.”
Ridgway led 2-0 at the half before Pierce added goal with just under 28 minutes left and just under six minutes left which made the Elker lead 4-0.
Paige broke through the defense just after the midway point of the first half and used a stepover move to beat the Curwensville goalkeeper for his first goal.
“It was nice,” Ogden said. “Greg had his first real goal of his career, so it was good.”
Ogden said the Elkers bounced back strong after a 9-0 loss to Elk County Catholic on Thursday.
“It was a nice comeback after the ECC loss too,” Ogden said. “They needed that.”
Ridgway is slated to host Brockway at 4 p.m. today.
