Ridgway boys soccer won 4-1 in the consolation game over Johnsonburg Saturday morning at Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School in Ridgway.
Ridgway was spurred on by a hat trick from striker Tad Pierce. Pierce scored early in the first half to take a 1-0 lead. Midway through the first half, Kyle Sheldon received a long ball in the middle of the field and outran the defense to score on a breakaway to tie the match at 1-1. Pierce was able to add a second goal in the latter stages of the opening half as he took a shot from approximately 20 yards which took a bounce on the grass, then went off the post and into the net to give Ridgway a 2-1 lead.
Luke Bobby capitalized on a perfect corner kick with a header which was buried in the middle of the net to put Ridgway ahead 3-1 in the second half. Pierce added his third goal later in the half to round out the scoring.
Ridgway hosts Kane at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Johnsonburg is at Coudersport for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
